Drumset Supersets
- Description
Drumset Supersets is designed to quickly and efficiently improve your speed, endurance, control, coordination, and reading on the drumset. What are drumset supersets? Traditionally, super-setting is a weightlifting training method that uses consecutive exercises to develop a more effective workout. Because of the similarities in approach, the advanced drumming method in this book has been given the same name. The included lessons combine multiple drumset exercises into workouts that simultaneously train your hands, feet, and mind. When done properly, supersets help you save time and greatly improve your drumming!
Drumset Supersets Reviews
“…Drumset Supersets quickly gets into the nitty-gritty by having students learn and memorize ostinatos for the hands and then tackle a series of bass drum reading exercises to be played in combination. Divided into two sections, one for straight rhythms like rock, pop, and country, and the other for swung rhythms like blues and jazz, the book can yield endless possibilities and permutations to get students to that next level of reading and coordination. And when you think you’ve got it licked, ‘vocal counting’ is introduced to either make you rise up to the challenge or recoil in defeat… set aside some time for this one… (3.5 Stars)” –Modern Drummer Magazine, October 2014
“Drumset Supersets does a fantastic job of providing a true workout on the drum set, similar to one you’d seek in a gym. Blake’s material will expose your body to some serious rhythmic challenges, and likely leave your mind just as sore as your arms and legs.” –Adam Tuminaro (OrlandoDrummer.com)
“Drumset Supersets has laid out a form for you to become technically and creatively proficient. Follow this method and you can become the kind of drummer you’ve always dreamed of being.” –Blair Sinta (Alanis Morissette, Annie Lennox, Chris Cornell)
“Drumset Supersets is syncopation on steroids. If you’re ready for next level sh*t, pack some supplies, lock yourself in a room, and come out on the other side a new beast of a drummer.” –Randy Cooke (Dave Stewart, Five For Fighting, LA Session Independent)
“Drumset Supersets is a fantastic book that covers so many topics all in one great system.” –Louie Palmer (PlayBetterDrums.com)
“Drumset Supersets will give you exactly what it promises – a drum workout, along with some great independence building and reading exercises.” –Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper)
“Drumset Supersets is a perfect blend of Ted Reed’s Syncopation, Gary Chester’s New Breed, and Joe Morello’s Master Studies. While keeping it fresh and modern for today’s approach to drumming. Drumset Supersets improved every aspect of my playing; chops, reading, coordination, and stamina.” –Nik Hughes (Youngblood Hawke, Emily Osment, Kevin Miso)
“Drumset Supersets immediately pulls you out of your comfort zone whether you want it or not, while developing your muscle memory the deeper you dig into the more complex ostinatos. There’s a life time of work in this book” –Aviv Cohen (Air Supply, Drugstore Fanatics)
“Drumset Supersets provides a well thought out and smart way to develop all its intended goals. It also makes the practice time fly by. I have so much of an enjoyable and efficient time practicing with this book, that I also regularly use it in my own lesson plans with students. A main stay for my practice routine.” –Zak St. John (Stevie Wonder, The B-52’s, Christian Martucci)
